Your first school ,at Newington Green in Islington , London.-you often recalled .,was stuck by a German V1,[ also called a doodlebug] flying bomb/missile  during the evening when thankfully the building was empty and nobody was hurt .If this had struck the school earlier the class room you would have been inside as well as many other children would have been very seriously injured -as the area of the school which had your class room in was destroyed by the explosion.
